Super Teacher Worksheets

My Review of Super Teacher Worksheets

As a math teacher, I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs when it comes to lesson planning and assignments. While we have plenty of resources to help us reinforce the material, it can be hit or miss as far as the assignment’s effectiveness goes. Like so many other teachers out there, I decided to start incorporating Super Teacher worksheets (official website) into my lessons, and I have to admit, it’s made quite a difference. Before I get into how these worksheets helped me improve my teaching, I want to first talk about what Super Teacher worksheets are.

What Are Super Teacher Worksheets?

To put it simply, Super Teacher worksheets are printable worksheets that teachers can use in the classroom.

And the worksheets go beyond basic math assignments. You’ll find worksheets for just about every subject, including:

super teacher tools

  • Reading and writing
  • Phonics
  • Grammar
  • Handwriting
  • Science
  • Spelling
  • Holidays
  • Social studies
  • Pre-K
  • Puzzles and brain teasers

Of all the subjects, though, I’d say that math has the most worksheets. So far, I’ve been able to use worksheets for:

  • Fractions
  • Division
  • Addition
  • Money counting
  • Rounding
  • Odd/Even numbers
  • Subtraction and more

What’s great about these worksheets is that they make the assignment fun for students. Pre-K students, for example, may be asked to look at patterns and then draw the shapes that continue the pattern. Worksheets are categorized by grade level, too, which makes it easy to navigate the site and find the right assignment for your class.

Becoming a Member

One thing that I do want to mention is that in order to print and view the worksheets, you need to become a member of the Super Teacher Worksheets website. Membership is not free, but most teacher membership sites aren’t. The cost is just $20 for the entire year, so we’re not talking about a hefty investment here. The membership price is well worth the cost as the worksheets are some of the highest quality I’ve seen, and the site offers a vast selection of them.

You may find a few free math worksheets floating around the web, but if you become a member of the site, you’ll gain access to a much larger selection of worksheets.

How Super Teacher Worksheets Improved My Teaching

The great thing about Super Teacher Worksheets is that they give teachers so many different options with each subject. Let’s use subtraction for example. If I wanted to teach my students how to do basic subtraction, I could log into the Super Teacher website and choose from numerous different types of worksheets, including:

  • Subtraction speed drills
  • Flashcards and games
  • Counters and pictures
  • Mystery pictures
  • Number line subtraction
  • Or, I could create my own worksheet

With each worksheet, I can view:

  • Common Core Standards
  • The grade level rating

I can even save the worksheet to my filing cabinet for later, or preview the worksheet with the click of a button. And in the subtraction section, there are two worksheets that are completely free (Subtraction Matching Game and Subtraction Flash Cards). So, if you haven’t signed up for a membership yet, you can take advantage of these free worksheets to see if they help you with your lessons. The matching game is fun because kids are already familiar with it, and it lets them interact with their classmates in a fun way.

One thing that I was impressed with is the fact that most of the worksheets on the site are in line with the Common Core Standards Initiative, so I felt comfortable using these worksheets in the classroom.

You’ll also find Super Teacher worksheets answers on the same printable PDF as the assignment. Everything is laid out for you. All you have to do is present the worksheet to your students. For me, this really allowed me to spend more time helping my students instead of spending time trying to create new worksheets or figure out the answers to other pre-made worksheets.

Customized Worksheets

While I love using the pre-made worksheets, there are some assignments or subjects that aren’t covered. This is where the Generator Tools comes in handy. These allow you to generate your own customized worksheets. You can even create quizzes, flash cards, games and more. If you can’t find math idea worksheets on the subject you need, creating your own worksheet is a convenient option. For me, customized worksheets meant that I could continue using the same type of worksheets my students were familiar with, but could adjust the content to suit the subject matter.

Teacher Support

Another great thing about Super Teacher Worksheets is that they offer tools for teachers to make their lives easier.

For example, you’ll find plenty of creative writing prompts for students, award certificates, printable lesson plan templates, sticker charts, some craft ideas, and even an Excel guidebook designed especially for elementary school teachers.

What Super Teacher Worksheets has allowed me to do is reinforce the material I’m teaching in a fun, positive way. With so many different types of worksheets at my disposal, I can complement my students’ learning styles and give them assignments that they enjoy.

There are, literally, thousands of worksheets on the website, and they cover just about every subject you could imagine.

I teach elementary school kids, so these worksheets are perfectly designed for my needs.

However, if you’re a high school or even a middle school teacher, you may have a difficult time making use of these worksheets. There are Reading and Comprehension worksheets for middle school, but the majority of worksheets are aimed at elementary school students.

Aside from this minor drawback, I can’t say enough about these worksheets. They mix fun pictures and assignments with the subject matter to truly help students learn without even realizing it.

The holiday worksheets are also great for students as it gets them excited about the holiday, but also helps improve their skills as well. Take, for example, the Thanksgiving Scavenger Hunt. This member’s worksheet quizzes students on important Thanksgiving facts (like “how long did the first Thanksgiving last?”) while having them participate in a fun scavenger hunt in the classroom. Other holiday worksheets are purely creative and fun, but they’re great for kids, and they make school fun.

At the end of the day, Super Teacher Worksheets has truly helped improve my teaching. They help me stay organized, enhance the learning experience and truly help my students grasp the material. As an added bonus, the kids have fun while they’re learning, and they always have something new and fun to do in the classroom. Ultimately, it’s all about getting kids to enjoy learning, and that’s exactly what these worksheets have done for my students.
